Are you desperate to make something for yourself to show off your new sewing skills? Then this is the perfect course for you! We’ll show you how to make 3 simple tops – starting with just a rectangle! Each one can be sewn from about a meter of fabric and in just a couple of hours (or even quicker once you get the hang of it)! All you need is a sewing machine, some fabric, our templates and some very basic sewing supplies.

What you will make...
In this course you will learn to make 3 tops, each with slight variations…
Basic Top
Features a round neck, grown on sleeves and a deep hem. A flattering loose fit with cropped length just below the waist.
Overlap Top
Features ties attached at the hem which cinch it in at the waist and create an interesting wrap around detail at the sides.
Tunic Top
Hip length with side slits and a narrow hem. The optional waist tie can be made in two lengths to create different looks.

What you will need...
You can make these tops in any woven fabric. You could even upcycle a sheet or tablecloth for some practice. To get the right look we recommend something with some lighter weight and with some drape, such as:
- Viscose
- Crepe
- Cotton Lawn
- Cotton Poplin
- Linen
- Shirting
- Chambray
You only need roughly 1m of fabric for each top so it’s a great project to use up smaller pieces! We’ve used plain fabrics so you can more clearly see each step but the simple shapes are pefect to showcase fun prints and funky designs.
