So, you want to learn how to sew a zipper pouch. In this class, we will show you, step by step and in detail, how to cut your fabrics, apply your interfacing, create pleats, insert a zip with a lining and how to get a really neat finish. They’ll be no more fear of zips once you’ve made one of these!
Even if you already know how to make a zipper pouch, this is a still a great class to take if you want a quick and fun project, or you need to make something as a gift.
The pleats really do make this pouch something special, and you won’t believe how little fabric you need to make it.
The pouch is a large size (12” wide and 9” high) so will be good for all sorts of uses. Maybe yours will be a make-up bag, or a weekend toiletries bag or even used to store some of your craft supplies.

What You Will Need
To follow along with the lessons in this class you will need the following tools and materials:
★ Your downloadable cutting layout
★ A sewing machine
★ A standard zipper foot
★ Scissors
★ Pins
★ A 1/4m of fusible fleece
★ A 1/2m of plain cotton (or a 1/4m in two different colours)
★ A 1/4m of printed cotton (or an assortment of scrap fabrics)
★ A 10″ closed end zipper

I purchased this class at the weekend for an evening of sewing. I have been sewing for a while now but each step is explained really well so a new sewist could easily follow them. I had not added pleats to a bag before so the video for this was really useful and my pleats turned out perfectly. Also the instructions for adding the zip are the best I have come across and I have finally got a professional looking zip fastening on a bag. I would certainly recommend this course and will be making several more zipped pouches for all my friends. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved this class! Although not a beginner I hadn’t had a chance to do any sewing for a while, so to beat the withdrawals I wanted something quick and easy to do in an evening. This class really delivered – the instructions are clear and beautifully presented and explained by Nikki. I didn’t have the correct zipper in my stash, so I hacked a dressmaking 21″ zipper with no stoppers by sewing across the teeth at one end. This doesn’t give it quite the professional finish the Stitch Sisters class aims for, but it’s good enough for my makeup bag, given the abuse it will get The finished product is already stuffed full of makeup and such. Thank you ladies, what a great class. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
