Learn to sew a shoulder bag, the Boho Button Bag, with our fun online sewing class! The perfect beginner bag-making project.
In this class, we will guide you through every step to sew a shoulder bag – your own version of our Boho Button Bag.
Using our downloadable pattern pieces, we’ll talk you through cutting your fabric and interfacings before walking you through each stage of the construction.
Learn how to add a magnetic clasp, how to work with fusible fleece and how to sew heavier fabrics.
Now also with TWO extra bonus lessons which show how to add a recessed zipper and an adjustable strap when you sew a shoulder bag! Revised templates include all variations and a cutting layout!
What You Will Need
To follow along with the lessons in this class you will need the following tools and materials:
★ Your downloadable pattern pieces
★ 70cm of 140cm+ wide medium to heavy fabric (we used upholstery fabric) ★ 40cm of lining fabric (we used a 140cm wide cotton, allow more for narrower fabrics)
★ 60cm of fusible fleece (we used Vilene H640 which is 90cm wide)
★ 30cm of medium interfacing (we used one 90cm wide) ★ Magnetic Clasp For the zipper version: you will also need a minimum 16″ zip For the adjustable strap: you will also need a 1.5″ wide D-ring (or square ring) and a 1.5″ slider You will also need access to the following:
★ A sewing machine
★ Scissors
★ Pins
★ Fabric Marker
★ Small ruler or sewing gauge
