You do not need any more than your sewing machine, some fabric, thread, scissors and a marking tool to follow along with this class. However, here are some of the extra items we use throughout:

★ A rotary cutter

★ A self-healing board

★ A quilting ruler (we use a 6.5” x 13” ruler)

★ A range quilting cottons or scrap fabrics (1-1.5 metres in total if you wish to make one example of all of the blocks shown - our downloadable worksheet will help you to calculate how much fabric you would need for a larger quilt)

★ Batting or wadding fabric (four 13” squares for the samples alone - our downloadable worksheet will help you to calculate how much fabric you would need for a larger quilt)

★ Backing fabric (four 13” squares for the samples alone - our downloadable worksheet will help you to calculate how much fabric you would need for a larger quilt)

★ An air-erasable or water-soluble marker

★ Quilters pins (we like the flower head variety)

★ Basting pins or spray adhesive

★ Embroidery floss and hand sewing needle for decorative stitches

★ An iron and ironing board

★ Spray starch

★ Store bought bias binding, or extra fabric and a bias tape maker

★ Binding clips

  1. Enjoyed class, material presented in easy to understand way, clear examples and steps. Feel less intimidated by quilting.

  2. Alison HUTCHINGS

I have been wanting to learn how to quilt for a long time, I did your course and what a great start it has given me the basic skills and since then I have been trying all sorts of other things and now I have completed a memory quilt from my grand daughters old baby clothes a big thankyou from me.
