Summer Sewing Patterns – McCalls Pattern Haul

Are you looking for summer sewing patterns? Are you thinking about your summer wardrobe ?

We recently bought some patterns to add to our stash from the McCalls Pattern Sale and they are perfect for a holiday wardrobe. (If the sale has ended by the time you are reading this don’t worry as they are repeated multiple times a year) We definitely had our upcoming summer holiday in mind when we chose these beauties.

With a holiday wardrobe you are looking for relaxed pieces that can deal with the heat. Consider whether the pieces you make can be worn in different ways, dressed down for the beach and dressed up for dinner.

Think about the fabrics you use, embrace colour, texture and pattern. We can all be a little braver while on holiday! You will ideally look for fabrics that travel well, need very little ironing and are good in the sun. Think floaty lightweight fabrics and remember jerseys are super comfy to travel in.

We hope you enjoyed all of our selections for summer sewing patterns, we would love to hear what your favourite sewing pattern is for summer. We bought all of our patterns from Minerva Crafts.

Check out the whole video and see our plans for each pattern in our YouTube video. We love doing pattern haul videos so dont forget to check out our playlist for other videos of this type.

If you are nervous about sewing with commercial patterns then remember we can help! How to use sewing patterns is a fundamental dressmaking skill, and commercial sewing patterns offer huge variety and value for money. In our Guide to Commercial Patterns class, we walk you through every aspect of using them to help build your confidence – from calculating fabric to getting a good fit.
