Culottes are such a versatile garment. They can be dressed up or down and worn all year round. In this weeks post, we will talk about styling culottes for Spring/Summer but click here for styling tips for Autumn/Winter.
Everyday style
To dress down culottes simply add some sliders, flip-flops or trainers. Pair them with a simple tee and you are all set for the day. When styling culottes for daytime just treat them like you would your jeans – simple styling and minimal accessories.
Pops of Colour and Big Prints
Floaty floral fabrics and bold summer colours always play a big part in any summer wardrobe. We can’t resist that pop of high colour and those oh so feminine prints.
Culottes are a great showcase for beautiful prints as the wide trouser legs show all the beauty of the fabric. Look for simpler styles to show off large print fabrics. More detailed designed are perfect for simple bold colours.
For styling culottes with added glamour, add some strappy heels or sandals. Keep your top half simple and let the culottes do all the talking.
When is a culotte not a culotte?
Lastly, remember that you can make your culottes pretend to be something they are not!
Match up a summer top in the same colour and it becomes a faux jumpsuit (just a lot easier to get in and out of than a real jumpsuit). Not sure if you can pull them off? We also love the full hem culottes that look just like skirts. Look for styles with lots of panels, princess seams and a fuller hem to create this style.
Whatever style you choose, remember to keep it fun and don’t be afraid of print or colour. Check in next week for styling tips for the colder months, and later for styling tips for your body shape.
Thanks for stopping by!
