Fancy Sewing Yourself A New Dress?

As we head into Spring its a good time to start thinking about lighter layers. The perfect way to celebrate the sun coming out is with a new dress and we have the perfect new dress sewing patterns for you!

We have recently made three dresses for pattern reviews over on Youtube which might be a great, quick make for you.

Fancy Sewing Yourself A New Dress?

McCalls M7993

The first dress is the M7993 and its a perfect jumper dress. It’s an easy style for fitting and a super comfy dress to wear anytime. We love the idea of making a sparkly knit one for an easy night out dress too.

There are so many delicious knits on the market at the moment and I’m sure you have some already in your stash. You only need around 2 meters of fabric to make this dress. Plus you can use either the same fabric or ribbing for the bands.

Vogue V9264

This is another great stretch dress but it has a more fitted silhouette. It benefits from having princess seams to make the fitting a breeze.

Fancy Sewing Yourself A New Dress?

Burda 6265

Finally, take a look at this great dress from Burda. The 6265 is another quick sew and it has some amazing details.

We used some amazing swooshy Art Gallery viscose fabrics to make our dresses.

We love the shirring on the cuffs and at the neckline. If you are looking for a video showing you how to shirr, then look no further than our Youtube channel of course!

If you are looking for some help with getting to grips with Commerical Patterns then look no further than our Guide to Commercial Patterns class, we promise it will demystify these amazing patterns for you. There are so many dresses available from commercial patterns, we just know there will be one for you.

We hope that these pattern reviews give you some inspiration to get sewing this weekend. So, if you fancy making yourself a new dress we hope you will pick one of these beauties! If you make any of the dresses that we reviewed we would love to see, so make sure to tag us with pictures of your makes.

Happy Sewing

Nikki & Rachel
