When we agreed to be pattern testers for the new Cocowawas Crafts pattern, The Pumpkin Dress, we knew it was destined to be styled as a 1960s mini dress. We immediately thought of the colour blocking that Mary Quant used a lot in her mod fashions and knew it would be a good match.
We needed to make a few adjustments to the pattern to create the look we wanted. I shortened mine by 3″ and we both sized down so that it was fitted at the chest but still had that essential kick-out skirt. The pattern was simple to follow and if you use KAM snaps as we did then it’ll be no trouble even for a relative beginner.
I have so many 1960s photos pinned on various Pinterest boards and the crazy poses have often made me smile. So we thought it would be a good giggle to try and create some of them whilst photographing our Pumpkin dresses. We laughed so hard we had to touch up our makeup halfway through, but the result is some of our best work. We hope you agree!
We have captioned the photos, but we would love to hear your alternative captions. Comment below with the number of the photo and your caption!
